Description
There is a growing awareness and acceptance of "neurodivergent" individuals in the workforce. Companies are recognizing the unique skills and perspectives they bring to companies, leading to more-inclusive hiring practices.
"Neurodivergent" is an emerging term that encompasses brain function that differs from that of the majority of the population. It typically is an inclusive term for those, for example, who are described as gifted, twice-exceptional, having ADHD, Dyslexia, those on the Autism Spectrum, and others with learning and processing differences.
As businesses continue to search for talented employees – and make accommodations to widen the pool of potential team members – having specialized approaches to attracting and retaining those whose brains work differently are critically important.
A 2017 Harvard Business Review study found that the average retention rate for neurodivergent employees was 80%, compared to an industry average of 40-60%. Neurodivergent employees may have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a unique perspective that can contribute to creative solutions. Taking advantage of this segment of the workforce, however, requires accommodations to maximize productivity and morale.
This free ZOOM, offered exclusively to members of the Castle Rock and Parker chambers of commerce, award-winning speech language pathologist, neurodiversity specialist, and TedX speaker Meghan Bonde of Team Neurodivergent will help you understand how tapping into the talents of neurodiverse team members can become a competitive advantage and can accelerate business success.
You will learn actionable strategies for finding, accommodating, and nurturing this under-utilized talent pool.
